MANGE TAKK!
We celebrated 57 years of
Westby Norwegian Heritage!
The Westby Syttende Mai Board and the residents of Westby want to say "MANGE TAKK!" to everyone who attended our 2025 Syttende Mai celebration, commemorating Norway's Constitution Day.
To all our visitors, our event participants, our great sponsors, and the Westby community. We look forward to seeing all of you at Westby Syttende Mai on May 15, 16 & 17, 2026!
Strong ties to Norway still exist since the first official Norwegian settler laid his eyes on the prairie once called Coon. Family and tradition hold special meaning in our primarily Norwegian community.

Thanks to our great sponsors!

CONGRATULATIONS to our syttende mai king & queen

Our Heritage
The settlers brought with them their Lutheran religion, arts, crafts, foods and strong work ethic. Since the first Celebration, children and adults have enjoyed music, food and history of Syttende Mai. As the first major festival of the year in Southwest Wisconsin, Westby's Syttende Mai offers many Norwegian foods such as rommegrot (a cream pudding), lefsepolsa, sandbakkels, strul and lefse, as well as Norwegian rosemaling, woodcarving, Hardanger fiddlemaking, needlework and weaving.

MANGE TAKK MIN VEN, HA EN BEHAGELIG REISE
(MANY THANKS MY FRIEND, HAVE A PLEASANT JOURNEY!)
